Module 1: Get Started
Everything you need to know to start playing. Learn to tune, how to hold your instrument, proper technique, and common beginner mistakes to avoid!
Module 2: Build a Foundation of Rhythm
This is SO important for your strumming future! Once you get these basics down, you'll be able to keep time, play at a steady tempo, and learn new strumming patterns with more confidence.
Module 3: New Chords & Chord Transitions
Step by step practice to move between chords, and I share all of my best practices to make switching chords easier for you.
Module 4: Strumming
You'll learn my method for building strumming patterns and keeping a steady tempo. This is the #1 thing I want my students to walk away with. This method has helped hundreds of students unlock new levels of playing and understanding strumming!
Module 5: Putting it Together

Meet Your Teacher
Hi, I'm Kathryn! I am a music teacher with a Master's degree in music (Vocal Jazz Performance from the Univ. of North Texas), a singer-songwriter & performing artist, multi-instrumentalist, and mama of two. Plus a dog and some chickens. I've taught music for over 15 years, and run a music lesson & production studio with my husband. I love helping others add more creativity to their lives! Progress over perfection is my mantra for you on your ukulele journey – and always remember to be kind to yourself as you learn. ◡̈
My passion is helping beginners skip the years of frustration. I’ll guide you from feeling overwhelmed to feeling confident and calm; from hesitant and unsteady strumming to understanding and feeling the rhythm.

What if I’m a total beginner and have never played an instrument before?
This is the ideal course for you! Not only will you learn the basics of the ukulele, you’ll get a solid foundation in music that will serve you no matter which instrument you decide to try in the future. I move at an easy to follow pace, and break everything down for beginners, or as a review for folks that are brushing up.
How long does it take to complete the course?
Some folks like to complete the course in 5 weeks, with 1 module per week, but you can also move at your own pace. You have lifetime access to the course once you enroll.
Who is this course NOT for?
If you have a baritone ukulele, this course would not be for you. Many of the principals would apply, as we are speaking the language of music, however the chord shapes and concepts are for GCEA tuning (soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles.)This course is not for advanced ukulele players.
I’m a beginner and most YouTube tutorials move too fast for me. Is this different?
This course is designed especially for beginners, so I move at a pace that is slow (but not too slow!) and easy to comprehend. This course allows you to move at your own pace, pause videos, and I also give very specific practice exercises that will help you gain confidence and improve your technique. What if I have previous experience but it's been a while since I've played?
